Training, not treatment.
I’m Lucus Leung. I’m a physiotherapist by training, and I coach strength because it’s the intervention that changes the most for people over fifty.
Why I coach strength
Working in physiotherapy, the same pattern kept appearing. Someone would come in after a fall, or with a back that had finally given out, and the honest answer was rarely a technique or a treatment plan. It was that they had been getting quietly weaker for twenty years and nobody had mentioned it.
Strength is the most reversible part of ageing. Not the only part, and not a cure for anything — but the one where a few hours a week produces changes you can measure within six weeks and feel within twelve. That’s what Alpine does now.
Why small groups
Two things happen in a group of three that don’t happen one to one. It costs each person considerably less, so people can afford to train twice a week rather than once a fortnight. And people turn up, because two others are expecting them.
Consistency beats intensity at every age, and it matters more after fifty than at any point before. A group of three is small enough that I still correct every rep, and large enough that nobody quietly stops coming.
Where I've come from
I spent fourteen years in Hong Kong and nine in Canada before moving to Australia for my Masters. I coach in English, Cantonese and Mandarin — which on the Gold Coast means a fair few clients whose parents finally understood their program properly for the first time.

What I do and don't offer here
Alpine provides personal training only. I don't assess, diagnose, or treat injuries through this business, and personal training is not an allied health service. If what you need is physiotherapy, tell me and I'll refer you to someone who can help — that referral costs you nothing and I'd rather you got the right thing.
What training looks like
